Endometrial Ablation in Frisco, TX

Help With Heavy Periods

Many women suffer from heavy periods. In fact, 1 in 5 women have heavy bleeding during their menstrual cycle, many of which are pre-menopausal, between the ages of 30 – 50. We offer an in-office procedure that eliminates most, if not all, menstrual bleeding.

Endometrial Ablation is a procedure that destroys (ablates) the uterine lining, or endometrium. The endometrium heals by scarring, which usually reduces or prevents uterine bleeding. This procedure often replaces the need for other treatments such as long term use of hormone therapy or hysterectomy.

The procedure ablates the lining of the uterus, or the endometrium (which is the part that causes the bleeding) with a rapid delivery of controlled hot water. This is done by opening up the cervix and inserting a slender wand that will inflate a small balloon through the cervical opening and into your uterus. Dr. White will put hot liquid into the balloon to destroy the uterus lining. A computer will control the pressure, temperature, and time of the treatment. The procedure is done under either paracervical block or IV sedation, so the patient will not experience pain.

Some women experience mild cramping and bleeding for a few days after the procedure. Most women return to normal activities within a day or two.

A candidate for endometrial ablation is:

Bleeding has not responded to other treatments

Childbearing is completed

You prefer not to have a hysterectomy to control bleeding

Other medical problems prevent a hysterectomy

Endometrial ablation is a highly successful procedure in stopping or reducing menstrual bleeding. 90% of women that undergo it have dramatically reduced bleeding. In 30% of women bleeding stops.

Many insurance companies cover the costs of the procedure, and it can be done with just a copay. If your menstrual cycles are controlling your life, contact our office and schedule a consultation to learn more.
