Endometrial Ablation

Endometrial ablation is a non-invasive minor surgical procedure for women with heavy bleeding.  This is a 20 minute procedure which can be performed in office and patients are usually able to resume normal activities within 24-48 hours.   This is often done under either paracervical block or IV sedation and patients leave the office in approximately 30 minutes.  This procedure often replaces the need for other treatments such as long term use of hormone therapy or hysterectomy.

A complete evaluation is necessary prior to performing this procedure including a sonogram  and endometrial biopsy to exclude endometrial pathology.   This procedure may be used even with small polyps or uterine fibroids present as long as certain conditions are met.
